Be aware that this book is only 65 pages. That's not much info for a relatively high cost.

The material as presented is useful and clear. This book covers only the actual sensors involved however. It seems to be part of a larger series. For the money, I would look for a more comprehensive book.

See the movie!

I guess in all fairness I shouldn't be writing a review because I've never even read the book. Despite that, I've read the screenplay for Hurlyburly which David Rabe wrote starring Sean Penn and Kevin Spacey and I can't help but tell everyone how great it is. I'm a film student at the University of Miami and like most other aspiring screenwriters and directors I am constantly shuffling through feature films for something of substance. Hurlyburly, the movie that is, really blew me away and I can't wait to read the book version. The dialogue and the ensemble cast made for one of the most dramatic black comedies I have ever seen. It depicts a bunch of ambitious Hollywood players who are desperately trying to find meaning in their lives. The words and interaction are so powerful and well crafted that it has made Hurlyburly one of my all time favorites. I'm looking forward to reading more of David Rabe's work. Yes, you've probably never heard of it, but that can only mean one thing...It's great!

I'll limit my remarks to Hurlyburly. Wordy. Way too wordy. Way too long as a play. Maybe two acts too long. With characters that, by act 2, I grew to hate. Their endless droning and complaining was boring and seemingly pointless. I didn't like these characters, didn't find them interesting and didn't find them to be intelligent or insightful enough to hold three acts together. I'll stop right here. I don't want to appear to be too wordy.

I first read 'Pig City' seven or eight years ago, before a career in journalism had revealed itself as a path of interest. In hindsight, perhaps reading this book was one of the beacons that pointed me in that direction, as Andrew Stafford's command of language and storytelling abilities are both enviable and inspiring. His task here is an ambitious one: to chart three decades of Brisbane's musical and cultural history in the context of its political machinations. Stylistically, it's written as a narrative with occasional passages of oral history, where Stafford blocks out key quotes from artists and individuals. This is an intelligent editorial decision and it helps to drive the reader's interest and engagement: rather than relying on the narrator's reconstruction of events, we're instead shown history through the eyes of those who were there.

This is the tenth anniversary edition of the book, published earlier this year, and Stafford's new author note in the opening pages makes for eerie reading in light of Queensland's recent political history. "'Pig City' was also meant as a triumphant, culture-driven coming-of-age story – we weren't supposed to be back here," Stafford writes. Certainly, reading accounts of the state's quasi-fascist regime under Joh Bjelke-Petersen's conservative government decades ago draws modern political decisions into sharp focus. History is not kind to Joh, and I don't think that Queenslanders will look back fondly on the current conservative reign, either. The genius of 'Pig City', however, is that by giving equal airtime to music and politics, Stafford is able to educate readers in two fields that don't often overlap. The book is a true classic; a must-read for anyone who calls Queensland home, or has designs on doing so.

well written book. straight to the point, no bulls***

the book is written in a simple language, making it easy to understand. at the same time, the contents are divided into many short chapters, making it such an 'achievement' after you finished reading a chapter. You can't wait to finish reading the next one. the examples chosen are clear, straight to the point and there is not much repetition (unlike some other books). The strategy is simple and easy to understand (similar to Dogs of the Dow). I highly recommend this book for anyone who just started learning dividend investing. Although the example are taken from London Stock Exchange, the concepts can easily be extended to any other market.

Book is for UK readers; not US readers

The book is written for UK readers. Stocks mentioned in the book are from UK stock market and the book uses UK currency like pounds and not US dollars. The appendix contains a list of dividend companies from the FTSE 350 companies. The information on taxes covers UK tax laws. A little upset now... but highly intrigued!

Great storyline! Definitely want to know if everyone gets a happily ever after!! That being said, I'm a little upset that the next book isn't out yet so I have to wait even longer to know if Chase gets a kidney and Jenn's pregnancy goes ok. Finish the next one Mrs. Gross! :)
